Zoom has been a big help putting together this group of dedicated musicians from all over the NW. Two of our members are in Arizona, the rest are scattered around Oregon and Washington.

Sounds like fun. So proud of your talents, Coreen

Maybe I can attend that festival one of these days.

Coreen, I can’t wait to hear this new group!!!

Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival Oregon

Friends and family will say goodbye tomorrow to Dave Hoofnagle, a longtime supporter of the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. He will be missed by many.

David William Hoonagle was born in Astoria, Oregon on April 2nd 1950 to Charles Edward Hoofnagle and Nancy Ellen (Sold) Hoofnagle. He had three sisters, Patrice E. Hoofnagle, Irma May (Hoofnagle) Archambault and Beth Louise (Gray) Turpen, and a brother John D. Hoofnagle. They all preceded David in death.
David grew up in Knappa, Oregon until the fifth grade, then the family moved to Warrenton Oregon where he graduated from Warrenton High School in 1968. He met Beverly Ledbetter in 1969 and then married the love of his life on May 22nd 1971. God blessed them with three children Susan, Tracy, and Scott whom David adored.

David worked for Bumble Bee Cold Storage for five years. Then he worked for Warrenton Lumbermill as a saw filer and truck mechanic for 27 years. He then worked for Snap-On Tools and Builder Supply. His last job until retirement was working for the Astoria School district in the cafeteria.

David loved to travel with his wife Bev and made a point of regular family trips. He also found great joy in motorcycle trips around Oregon and across the Western United States. Dave made a once in a lifetime trip to Scandinavia where he and Bev backpacked across Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. He and Bev later retuned to Europe and Italy to see the sites on motorcycles. Years later Dave jumped at the chance to travel again, only this time to Israel with Pastor Craig from Bethany Free Lutheran. It was on this trip where Dave greatly deepened his faith with Jesus as he and Bev saw firsthand the Biblical sites of the Bible in real life.

Dave slowly became a man of deep faith and conviction. Through active participation in church and small group fellowship, he came to a peace in his life that Jesus was his Lord.

Dave was someone that could fix just about anything. He loved working with his hands and was good at it. Dave was often found working on cars and motorcycles (completing a built from scratch 3 wheeled motorcycle). He also would do any plumping, carpentry, electrical work, and just about anything else that needed fixed.

Dave is survived by his wife Beverly A. Hoofnagle, their three children; Susan Jackson, Tracy Burchfield, and Scott Hoofnagle married to Tiffany. Dave has 9 grandchildren; Reanna Houghton, Alex Burchfield, Kaitlyn Hoofnagle, Jacob Hoofnagle, Madison Friedrich, Bryon Hoofnagle, Devin Jackson, Wyatt Jackson, Brinley Stephens. Dave has three great grandchildren; Killian, Sophia, and Emma. He also is survived by brother-in-law Clifford Ledbetter and several cousins.Nieces Marti May, Dawn Ahlers, Lori Gray, Shelia Smith, Julie Turpen and nephew John Turpen.

Love and hugs to Bev and family. I first met Dave when I was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. He was so helpful with the 1000’s of cases of Girl Scout’s cookies and our camp outs when our girls were young. It was always nice to visit with Dave and Bev during Scandinavian events. He will be missed.

Condolences and prayers of comfort for Bev and her family. I’ve always loved watching them dance.

So sorry for your loss. I have found memories of seeing him at festival, He was usually on a mission to take care of whatever needed doing but always had time for a smile. Take care.

I am sad to hear of your loss. He was a very nice man to work with at the Scandinavian Festival. My condolences to your family. 😞 ❤️

What a beautiful memorial for a great guy! We will miss you David! ❤️

My condolences to all of your family ❤️‍🩹

Our deepest sympathy to the family and his many friends. R.I.P. Dave❤️🙏

My deepest sympathy to the entire family!!

So very sorry to hear this.

I am so sorry.

❤️❤️

So sorry.
