2024 Scholarships

The Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival and the Scandinavian Benevolent Society awarded a total of five scholarships to graduating seniors who have been active in the Nordic community. Meet and congratulate the awardees at the Queen Coronation at Clatsop County Fairgrounds at 7 PM on Friday evening, June 21. 

Sophie Alsbury of Warrenton receives $1,000 and hopes to become a Forensic Entomologist. She will attend Clatsop Community College and then transfer to a four-year university, preferably Oregon State University.

Maia Fay of Astoria receives $1,000. She will attend Southern Oregon University and major in Psychology to become an addiction counselor.

Molly Lindstrom of Astoria receives $1,001 from Scandinavian Benevolent Society. She plans to attend Illinois Wesleyan University to obtain a Bachelors in Fine Arts Musical Theater and History. 

Catherine Moberly of Kent, Washington, with family ties to the Astoria area, receives $1,000. She will attend Chapman University in California to obtain a Bachelor Degree in Entertainment Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations. 

Riley Phillips of Astoria receives $1,000 and plans on attending Pacific University to major in anthropology and study music.
